Collector’s Notes

Composition

The composition centers around the flowing form of Lord Ganesha, interwoven seamlessly with the sacred symbol Om. Curvilinear lines guide the eye across the canvas, creating a rhythmic movement that feels both grounding and expansive. Decorative motifs—rangoli-inspired patterns, symbolic objects, and sacred markings—frame the central figure, giving the work a ceremonial presence.

Color & Energy

Earthy blues, greens, and warm neutrals form a stable, nurturing base, while gold leaf glimmers throughout the surface, infusing the painting with luminosity and reverence. The energy is celebratory yet contemplative, echoing the balance between material abundance and spiritual awakening that Diwali represents.

Medium & Texture

Rich layers of acrylic paint are enhanced with gold leaf, jewels, and dimensional elements that create a tactile, altar-like surface. The textured background holds subtle irregularities, adding depth and resonance, while reflective accents catch the light, reinforcing themes of prosperity, healing, and renewal.

Style & Story

This work blends contemporary mixed media with traditional Indian symbolism. Ganesha, revered as the remover of obstacles, is paired with Om, the primordial sound believed to be the vibration of the universe itself. Decorative doilies echo festive rangoli patterns, while sacred symbols—kalash with coconut, goddess feet, swastik, and jewels—anchor the painting in ritual, intention, and auspicious beginnings.

Emotional Connection

Om carries a deeply personal and restorative energy. It speaks to resilience, patience, and the courage to begin again after difficulty. Viewers often sense reassurance and calm in the presence of the work, as though it quietly blesses the space it inhabits.

Context & Significance

Created after a prolonged period of physical healing, Om marks the artist’s return to painting—a true Shubh Aarambh (auspicious beginning). Completed during the festive season of Diwali, the work embodies gratitude, renewal, and faith in forward movement, making it both a spiritual offering and a milestone within the artist’s journey.

Message from the Artist

Shubh Aarambh means auspicious beginnings. After more than a year away from painting due to injury and recovery, returning to the canvas felt deeply significant. I chose to begin again with Om and Ganesha, symbols of divine presence, protection, and the removal of obstacles.

Ganesha is traditionally worshipped at the start of any new endeavor, while Om represents the sound of the universe and the divinity of the soul. I painted the background in earthy tones, layered with gold leaf to symbolize abundance and prosperity. The doilies reference festive rangoli, and the sacred symbols and seven jewels are blessings for good fortune.

This painting is my prayer for healing, love, and prosperity—during the festive season and beyond.
