Composition
This diptych is a journey across two canvases, where currents of color weave and swirl like a living river. The flow between the panels is deliberate, creating movement that feels both spontaneous and eternal.
Color & Light
I worked with vibrant greens, turquoise, deep blues, and accents of copper and coral, allowing the pigments to merge, separate, and find their own path. The effect is fluid, like light reflecting on water — a constant shifting between calmness and energy.
Medium & Texture
Created with acrylic pouring techniques, the surface is richly layered, carrying the natural movement of water itself. Each cell and ripple in the paint becomes part of a larger current, echoing the unpredictability of flow.
Style & Story
The inspiration came from Lao Tzu’s words: “Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them — that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” For me, this piece is a meditation on surrender — a reminder that, like rivers, our lives are shaped by currents we cannot always control.
Emotional Connection
As you look at these panels, I invite you to breathe, to soften, to let your own thoughts move like water. Sometimes growth requires striving; other times, peace comes from release.
Context & Significance
River of Dreams carries both stillness and momentum. It is a reflection of life itself — dynamic, unpredictable, yet always flowing forward.
Message from the Artist:
River of Dreams is my meditation on movement, surrender, and the beauty of letting go. Created as a diptych, the two canvases invite you into a shifting current of color — vibrant greens, blues, turquoise, and copper merging and breaking apart like water finding its way. The acrylic pour technique allowed the paint to move with its own will, creating natural ripples, cells, and textures that mirror the spontaneity of a river’s course.
This work was inspired by Lao Tzu’s timeless wisdom: “Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them — that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” These words resonate deeply with me, and I wanted to capture them visually. While there is beauty in striving against the current, there is also grace in surrender — in trusting that the flow itself carries us where we are meant to be.
When I created River of Dreams, I let the paint guide me, just as life so often asks us to release control. The result is a piece that feels alive, unpredictable, and deeply calming — a reminder that peace is often found not in resistance, but in flow.
