Composition
The mandala radiates outward in perfect symmetry, its petals unfurling like a celestial bloom. At its heart lies a dense, intricate center that draws the eye inward, before guiding it outward again along rhythmic patterns that echo cycles of eternity.
Color & Light
Rendered in deep earth tones of ochre, rust, teal, and gold, the palette evokes both the richness of soil and the brilliance of divinity. Accents of gem-like embellishments catch the light, creating moments of sparkle that shift with the viewer’s gaze, mirroring the play of blessings and abundance.
Medium & Texture
This work combines acrylic paints with layered dot-work and hand-drawn Rangoli-inspired motifs, enriched with embedded gems. The tactile surface heightens its physical presence, while the reflective elements infuse it with a sense of ceremony and sacred offering.
Style & Story
The mandala, a Sanskrit word for “circle” or “completion,” is here reimagined as both meditative and celebratory. It was created during the Hindu festival of Navratri, honoring the nine forms of Goddess Durga. The work is both a visual meditation and a ritual invocation, bridging heritage, mythology, and personal devotion.
Emotional Connection
Standing before this mandala invites stillness and centering. Its symmetry and repetition evoke balance, its gems suggest divine grace, and its radiance offers a sense of calm empowerment — much like the festival it was created to honor.
Context & Significance
Mandalas have appeared across cultures as sacred diagrams of wholeness. This piece stands as both a contemporary artwork and a timeless spiritual form, a modern Rangoli translated into permanence. Its incorporation of mixed media and gem-like elements elevates it from traditional design to collectible art — making it not only a contemplative piece but also a rare acquisition for those who value both spiritual depth and aesthetic refinement.
Message from the Artist
Mandala, for me, is both art and prayer. The circle has no beginning and no end — it reminds us of the cycles of life, of wholeness, of the divine that flows through all things.
I created this piece during Navratri, a festival that celebrates the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga and her victory over darkness. As I painted each petal and each dot, I held that sense of reverence close — of invoking blessings, of offering gratitude, of channeling meditation into form.
The earth tones ground the work, while the gems shimmer with the richness of divine abundance. This mandala is my humble offering, a reminder that art can be both contemplative and celebratory, both meditative and radiant.
