Collector’s Notes

Composition:
At the center of the canvas, a molten red heart emerges in fluid, organic form — part flame, part river, part wound. The textured layers surrounding it ripple in greens, golds, and indigo, like the chaos of grief pressing in around a fragile center. Near the heart’s core, two simple words — live and love — are embedded as quiet anchors, distilling the work into both mantra and memorial.

Color & Light:
The palette oscillates between warmth and shadow: fiery crimsons and molten golds clash against inky blacks and mossy greens, while delicate flecks of white hover like falling petals or tears. This luminous contrast mirrors the paradox of loss — that even in the darkest grief, light and tenderness insist on breaking through.

Medium & Texture:
Employing the acrylic pour technique, the artist surrenders to the fluid unpredictability of pigment, allowing the paint to form veins, eddies, and marbled textures that evoke the inner landscape of the heart. The collaged text elements, stark and unembellished, punctuate the swirling chaos with a clarity that is both fragile and resolute.

Style & Story:
Abstract yet deeply personal, the work bridges emotional rawness with visual elegance. It stands as both a painting and an act of catharsis — a bleeding heart transmuted into art. The deliberate choice to embed words transforms the piece into an object of affirmation: a reminder that in the face of pain, love remains the path forward.

Emotional Connection:
To stand before Live & Love is to feel the echo of both grief and resilience. The swirling forms suggest the turbulence of mourning, while the glowing heart pulses with endurance. Collectors encounter not only a visual object, but an intimate fragment of lived experience — art as both remembrance and healing.

Context & Significance:
Created in 2017 in the immediate aftermath of the artist’s personal loss, this work is infused with profound authenticity. Though the original has been sold, its presence endures as a testament to art’s capacity to transform private suffering into universal resonance. For those who view it, Live & Love is not merely an image but a reminder of life’s dual truths: that sorrow and gratitude, pain and love, are forever intertwined.

Message from the Artist

This painting was born from heartbreak. After my mother’s sudden passing, I felt consumed by grief, unable to fathom her absence. In those heavy days, I turned to the canvas as both refuge and release.

The heart at the center is my bleeding heart — raw, broken, and yet alive. The words live and love became my compass: the only way I could carry forward was by choosing love in each moment, and by truly living with gratitude for what remains.

Though created in mourning, this work is ultimately about resilience. It is about the way love sustains us, even when loss shakes us to our core. For me, Live & Love is not just a painting — it is a vow to honor life by living it fully, with love at its center.
