Collector’s Notes

Composition

Flow is conceived as a diptych, allowing movement to unfold across two adjoining yet independent surfaces. The composition reads as a continuous current—forms surge, disperse, and reassemble across panels without a fixed point of arrival. There is no central hierarchy; instead, the eye travels intuitively, following organic pathways that echo natural systems such as water currents, mineral veins, and atmospheric patterns. The division between the panels becomes a pause rather than a rupture, reinforcing the idea that flow is shaped as much by intervals as by motion itself.

Color & Light

A luminous palette of turquoise, sea green, jade, cerulean, and soft coral dominates the surface, evoking aquatic depths and aerial perspectives simultaneously. Color appears suspended in motion, pooling and drifting rather than settling into defined boundaries. Subtle metallic accents and layered translucencies catch the light differently as the viewer shifts position, giving the work a quiet kinetic presence. The overall effect is expansive and calming, yet visually rich—an interplay of vitality and restraint.

Medium & Texture

Executed using acrylic pour techniques, the surface reveals cellular formations, fluid marbling, and naturally occurring interactions between pigment and medium. Texture emerges through accumulation rather than force, emphasizing the artist’s decision to collaborate with the material rather than dominate it. The resulting surface feels alive—dynamic yet balanced—inviting close inspection while maintaining coherence from a distance.

Style & Story

Rooted in the Taoist philosophy of Lao Tzu, Flow translates the principle of non-resistance into visual form. Rather than illustrating doctrine, the painting embodies it. The work acknowledges the tension between effort and surrender, suggesting that wisdom lies in discerning when to strive and when to allow. The fluid abstraction resists narrative closure, offering instead a contemplative space where meaning unfolds gradually.

Emotional Connection

Encountering Flow is a grounding experience. The painting encourages a sense of release—of easing out of control and into trust. Its movement feels restorative rather than chaotic, resonating with viewers who are navigating change, transition, or internal recalibration. There is a gentle reassurance in its rhythms, a reminder that not all progress requires force.

Context & Significance

Created in 2018, Flow marks a mature moment within the artist’s abstract practice, where technical confidence and philosophical clarity converge. As a diptych, the work offers versatility in display while maintaining conceptual integrity. For collectors, Flow functions as both a visual anchor and a meditative presence—an artwork that continues to reveal itself over time, aligning aesthetic refinement with enduring wisdom.

Message from the Artist

Flow was born from a simple but difficult realization—that resistance often causes more suffering than the circumstances themselves.

While working on this piece, I allowed the paint to lead. I released the need to control every outcome and instead trusted the natural movement of the medium. Watching the colors merge, separate, and find their own balance felt deeply reflective of life itself.

We are taught to push, to fight, to shape everything through effort. And while that has its place, there are moments when peace comes from acceptance—from letting things unfold as they are meant to. This painting holds that understanding for me.

Flow is my reminder to breathe, to soften, and to trust that movement—when met with awareness—will always carry us forward.
