Composition
The composition centers on a radiant circular form cradled within a pair of open hands. These hands act as a visual metaphor for action, choice, and responsibility—our karma—holding the essence of life itself. Within the circle unfolds an abstract world: hints of buildings, trees, flowers, human figures, and a single form ascending upward, suggesting transition rather than an ending. The circular structure reinforces continuity, reminding us that life moves in cycles, not straight lines.
Color & Energy
A spectrum of rainbow hues flows through the painting, layered with gold and silver accents that catch the light. These colors echo the richness of nature and the emotional breadth of human experience—joy, grief, gratitude, love. Despite the depth of feeling embedded in the work, the overall energy remains expansive and luminous, offering reassurance rather than heaviness.
Medium & Texture
Rich textures created with marble powder and layered materials give the surface a tactile, almost sculptural quality. The embedded mirror, surrounded by golden beads, becomes both a visual and symbolic focal point. It reflects light—and at times the viewer—reinforcing the idea of self-awareness as central to understanding one’s place within the larger whole.
Style & Story
Rooted in spiritual philosophy and expressed through contemporary abstraction, Circle of Life explores themes of karma, consciousness, and continuity. Drawing from Hindu thought, the work reflects the belief that life and death are not opposites, but phases within an ongoing journey. The imagery suggests that while forms change, essence endures.
Emotional Connection
This painting holds space for grief, remembrance, and quiet strength. It does not deny loss, but gently reframes it—offering a perspective that honors connection beyond physical presence. Viewers may find comfort in its message of interconnection and purpose, especially during times of transition.
Context & Significance
Created in the aftermath of profound personal loss, Circle of Life carries an added depth of sincerity and introspection. It stands as both a tribute and a meditation—on legacy, on the impact of a life lived with care, and on the unseen threads that bind us to one another. The work resonates as a reminder that our actions ripple outward, shaping not only our own journey but the lives we touch along the way.
Message from the Artist
This painting came to me at a time when words felt insufficient.
Losing my mother—who was an artist herself—left a silence that I didn’t know how to enter again. What eventually brought me back to the canvas was remembering how many lives she had touched, often in quiet, unseen ways. That realization stayed with me: that nothing we do is ever truly lost.
I see life as a circle—of giving and receiving, of presence and remembrance. We are more than our bodies, more than our thoughts or emotions. We are awareness, participating in something far larger than ourselves. Holding that belief allows me to feel my mother’s presence not as something gone, but as something transformed.
Through this work, I wanted to honor that understanding—and to remind myself, and anyone who connects with it, that when our actions are aligned with intention and compassion, they continue to matter long after we think they end.
